JBSS Manuscript Template

Authors should prepare manuscripts according to the official JBSS manuscript template. The template includes the article title page, author affiliations, abstract, keywords, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, conclusions, declarations, references, and journal citation style.

Accepted Manuscript Types

  • Original Research Articles
  • Review Articles
  • Short Communications
  • Methodological or Technical Notes
  • Scholarly Perspectives, where appropriate

Basic Submission Requirements

  • Clear and informative manuscript title
  • Complete author names and affiliations
  • Corresponding author email address
  • Abstract and keywords
  • Properly numbered figures and tables
  • Ethical approval statement, where applicable
  • Funding and conflict of interest statements
  • Complete reference list

Manuscript Structure

Original research articles should generally follow the structure below. Review articles and short communications may be adapted according to the nature of the manuscript.

  • Manuscript title
  • Author names and affiliations
  • Corresponding author details
  • Received, revised, accepted, and published dates
  • DOI, where assigned
  • Abstract and keywords
  • Highlights, where required

Main Manuscript

  • Introduction

Citation and Reference Style

JBSS follows a numeric citation and reference style. References should be numbered in the order of first citation in the manuscript text. In-text citations should appear as [1], [2,3], or [4-6].

Authors may use Vancouver, ICMJE, NLM, Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote citation tools and make minor manual adjustments according to the journal template.
